CANADA: Banff's Oxygen and Mountaintop Bar: Haute O2, Edmonton's Feed the Soul Dining Week, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, and More

GLOBAL: Goldwynn Resort & Residences opened a new location on Cable Beach in Nassau, Bahamas. As the only Bahamian member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the new location contrasts its mega-resort neighbors for a more intimate retreat. It features 81 residential-style accommodations, including studios and various kinds of suites that feature full kitchens or kitchenettes and private balconies. The location also has 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, as well as daily and seasonal on-site programming, such as cultural events, dive-in movie nights, and special weekend oceanfront brunch experiences. Goldwynn Resort & Residences also works with local restaurants, attractions, and more.

BANFF: Luxury, historic hotel Fairmont Banff Springs has transformed its Cliffhouse Bistro into a special, limited-time winter experience called Haute O2. Accessible only by the North American Chairlift on Mount Norquay, Haute O2 sits 7,000 feet up in the Canadian Rockies and combines the concepts of a mountaintop bar and an oxygen bar. Attendees to the evening will begin with a short session of yoga and breathwork, followed by a trip to the oxygen bar where guests can choose between multiple scents of oxygen. Then on to the main event: a five-course gourmet meal with wine and cocktail pairings, specially curated for an experience at this altitude.

EDMONTON: Feed the Soul Dining Week—Edmonton’s new week-long festival supporting Black food entrepreneurs and raising awareness to the barriers they face—will take place Feb. 10-17. It will feature 18 local, Black-owned food and hospitality businesses that will have various F&B on offer. Guests can expect $5 jerk chicken courtesy of Flava Cafe on Feb. 10, plus bites from the likes of PhatBar, Allegro Italian Kitchen, and more. Feed the Soul has also partnered with Glass Bookshop to help educate the area on Black food and history.

TORONTO: The Spice Food and Wine Group is hosting Black Grapes—an evening to celebrate Black winemakers and agents from around the world—to celebrate Black History Month. Black Grapes will take place on Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at Toronto's Stackt Market. Tickets are available via Eventbrite for $27.96, which covers all food and wine samples, including wines from Canada, the U.S., South Africa, and more.

VANCOUVER: The previously canceled Vancouver Folk Music Festival has announced that it will instead continue to work to save the festival after an outpouring of public support. The festival is facing financial challenges and is taking ideas and suggestions through an online survey on how to save the event. #FundTheFest is currently taking donations on the festival’s website as well, hoping to continue the 40-year tradition of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival.
