CHICAGO: The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago—which recently unveiled a large renovation of its public spaces, convention space, and guest rooms—has launched a new sustainability program for meeting attendees, allowing them the option to take home small bags of compost to use in their gardens, making it a unique amenity for groups and travelers. The hotel’s management, Sage Hospitality, partnered with BioGreen360, a leading innovator in distributing food waste management solutions, to roll out the first phase of the collaboration.
MIAMI: The Black Pepper Food & Wine Festival is set to showcase South Florida's Black-owned restaurants on Aug. 26 from 3-8 p.m. in Historic Overtown at The Urban. The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Miami-Dade County Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert III, and the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust are sponsoring the event. The event presents the many flavors and entertainment of the African diaspora through small bites, wine tastings, and live cooking demonstrations, highlighting local Black chefs and Black-owned restaurants and food trucks for an all-day outdoor event.
NEWPORT, R.I.: The Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection, an iconic mansion in Newport, R.I., announced the appointment of Timothy Caspare as executive chef. With almost two decades of industry experience, Caspare has served as a chef across various international cities and Michelin-starred restaurants, joining the team from Pasquale Jones in New York City. He will oversee The Vanderbilt's entire culinary program, including the hotel's restaurant, The Dining Room; the recognized alfresco destination The Roof Deck; as well as all culinary partnerships and events.
PHILADELPHIA: The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) announced the appointment of Jennifer Nagle as vice president of special projects. With over 20 years of executive experience in the fields of marketing, tourism, and hospitality, Nagle will play a pivotal role in leading strategic initiatives related to the PHLCVB’s focus on citywide conventions, sporting events (such as the FIFA World Cup 26 and 2026 MLB All-Star Game), and international tourism in the lead-up to and throughout 2026.
TAMPA, FLA.: JW Marriott Tampa Water Street announced the upcoming grand opening of Beacon, a rooftop lounge perched on the hotel's 27th floor. Beacon will become Tampa’s highest (and Florida's second-highest) public rooftop cocktail and dining destination, offering panoramic views of the city skyline and the waterfront. Beacon’s debut marks a momentous milestone for the property, which opened its doors in December 2020.
