Michael J. Stratton
35, Program Assistant, American Bar Association Commission on Disability Rights
Washington, D.C.
Stratton’s passion for the meetings industry came by accident in high school, working as co-chair of the prom committee. As he reached college, he continued to hone his skills, organizing international meetings for a Washington, D.C.-based law firm that led him to where he is today. Now as program assistant for the American Bar Association’s Commission on Disability Rights, Stratton continues to raise the bar while coordinating four annual business meetings in addition to CDR’s biennial national conference. His fervor for events has allowed him to bring growth to the ABA’s national conference in both quality and quantity, and to his own career: His sights are set on achieving CMP certification and reaching the associate director level at the ABA within the next 10 years. And, in his downtime, Stratton serves on the board of The Wanda Alston Foundation, which operates the D.C. area’s only homeless shelter for LGBT youths.
