40 Under 40: Amy Patterson

Amy-Patterson-3Amy Patterson 39, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Events, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau Atlanta A sports fanatic, Patterson is partial to football. Fittingly, she’s busy trying to score touchdowns for the Atlanta CVB as vice president of business development and corporate events. The “little peach,” as she is known, leads the planning and execution of the CVB’s biggest events, including its annual meeting for 1,000 ACVB members and the Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame Awards Dinner for 500 attendees. While football is her passion, and she served on the events team for the Chick-fil-A Bowl for five years, two of her previous standout positions were in basketball. She was director of operations of the local organizing committee for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four in Atlanta—working with numerous city leaders on a public safety plan for the event—and director of volunteers for the 2007 Final Four. “She couples her talent for managing large-scale events with her love of Atlanta to deliver innovative events and programming,” says colleague Victoria Lightfoot. On the hotel side, Patterson was event manager at Atlanta Marriott Marquis and Omni Hotel at CNN Center, among other properties, prior to her current role.
