But no one wants to stand sentry waiting for a smartphone to power up, which is why so-called charging valets, like the setup from VDA Productions, are becoming an event staple. Much like they would at a coat check, guests can drop off their phones and tablets with staffers—for a few minutes or a few hours—then claim them later.
