A hearty soup might not sound event-worthy, but Taste & Company’s shellfish stew is a fresher, more sophisticated twist on the traditional meat-and-potatoes version. Chef Al Gordon combines clams and mussels with roasted seasonal squash, shredded red Swiss chard, and diced Yukon gold potatoes in an aromatic broth of heavy cream, coconut milk, and Asian spices. The stew is finished with a preserved lemon pesto and garnished with toasted shaved coconut.
