The uptown outpost of SoHo’s popular bistro Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill opened last week inside Thompson Hotels' latest property. On the lobby level of 6 Columbus, the restaurant from brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg has decor similar to that of its downtown sibling (Blue Ribbon Sushi), flush with handcarved walnut wood accents—from floor to ceiling—and a minimalist, unfussy design. The warm, intimate eatery seats 110, with room for 50 at the bar, 18 seated at the sushi bar, and 20 in a semiprivate area. Serving a menu of grilled seafood and meat along with a large selection of sushi and sashimi, this location also handles room service for the hotel and will supply the food for the rooftop bar when it opens.
