The financial district will soon be home to the new Conrad New York, located at the former Embassy Suites Hotel in Battery Park City. Set to open March 19, the 463-room property, which is looking to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design's gold certification, will boast various dining options, a rooftop terrace, and more than 30,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.
For events, the downtown hotel will offer options on two floors as well as a dedicated meetings concierge. The second-floor atrium level will have the 3,200-square-foot West Ballroom, which will seat 300 banquet-style or hold 350 for receptions. There will also be six breakout studios ranging from 531 square feet to 1,276 square feet. Studios three and four will be able to be combined for a total of 1,216 square feet, or divided using an air wall.
Also on the second floor is the West Foyer, which will hold 245 for a reception, and the 18-seat boardroom, which will be equipped with a 103-inch LCD TV, translation capabilities, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
On the fourth floor will be the 6,200-square-foot Gallery Ballroom, which will have 20-foot ceilings and hold 520 guests seated banquet-style, 375 classroom-style, and 560 theater-style or for receptions. The gallery can also be divided into three separate areas for smaller events. Also located on the fourth floor is the Gallery Foyer, which has room for receptions of as many as 210 people and the Gallery Foyer Northeast, which will hold 105 for receptions.
Danny Meyer's Union Square Events is the exclusive food and beverage partner for the conference and event spaces; the neighborhood is already home to the hospitality veteran's Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, and North End Grill. For hotel guests, the Conrad will have food options including all-day dining restaurant Atrio (led by executive chef Anthony Zamora), the Atrium Lounge and Coffee Bar, and 24-hour room service.
Art plays a big role in the design of the hotel, which will feature more than 2,000 pieces of art, including work by Sol LeWitt's and Imi Knoebel. In the guest suites, artwork by Elizabeth Peyton, Sara Sosnowy, and Pat Steir will decorate the walls.
In May, a rooftop terrace will open on the 16th floor. Dubbed Loopy Doopy as a nod to the Sol LeWitt piece in the hotel's atrium, the space will hold up to 75 people and serve some bar menu items and cocktails.
