Andy L. Longo works in Fishers, Indiana, as director of fraternity programs for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. As a 2019 15 Over 50 honoree, Longo discusses his passion for the events industry.

What I do: I support and lead a team of programming and education professionals in designing learning experiences and opportunities for undergraduate students. This includes, but is not limited to, conferences, leadership training programs, and membership education opportunities. Our goal is to help men lead lives of excellence in their communities, chapters, homes, families and relationships.
How I got here: After graduate school, I worked for the University of Oklahoma serving the fraternal community and student activities eventually moving to Indianapolis to work for Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. For the past 15 years, I’ve been fortunate to apply my skills and talents working with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Greatest career accomplishment: We reimagined our conference model in 2005 improving efficiencies, formalizing an RFP and hotel contracting process, improved educational programming, instituted a comprehensive evaluation model while reducing costs and improving overall attendee experience.
Impressive stats: Each February, I lead a process to educate and engage 1,000 undergraduates and volunteers at five regional conferences. I also oversee the organizational effort in support of JDRF, the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research. Since 2012, Delta Tau Delta and its chapters have provided more than $1.6 million in support of this effort.
Specific improvement I’ve made: Prior to my involvement, there was no formal process for the collection and execution of organizational conference contracts. This created risk and vulnerability to the corporate brand and its officers. Today, all conference contracts are sourced through Experient.
What I am working on now: Delta Tau Delta will launch the Presidents Excellence Institute in January 2020. Offered at the beginning of his term, the experience is designed to educate the undergraduate chapter president as they transition into this role.
What I do outside of work: I serve on the board of directors of the Umoja Partnership. The Umoja Partnership a multifaith coalition of Indianapolis congregations partnering with Kenyan schools and churches to meet the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable children in western Kenya. I also enjoy running, having completed 19 5K races in 2018.
