VENUE: Natural History Museum's New Room

E1583disc 01 Tktk Parahouse 1 152
In the former space of the American Museum of Natural History's generator room is the new Powerhouse event space. The venue has a separate entrance off the Columbus Avenue side of the museum, and features blonde hardwood floors, a dark gray ceiling with exposed piping, white square pillars and walls, and beautiful glass-paneled French doors looking out on the Arthur Ross outdoor terrace, which offers grassy areas and flat stone fountains that would provide an ideal environment for a warm weather event. Just beyond the terrace is a fantastic view of the Rose Center for Earth and Space. If you've ever seen it at night, you know that its luminescent glow is pretty spectacular. The 5,000-square-foot space can hold 350 for a sit-down affair, or 500 for cocktails. All events are catered by Restaurant Associates, the museum's contract caterer. --Suzanne Ito
