The 21 Club is a New York institution, but it isn't resting on its laurels or famous history. Most recently, it transformed the second floor Tapestry Room into an intimate 32-seat dining room, called Upstairs at 21. Four wall murals painted by Brooklyn artist Wynne Evans depict New York landmarks in different seasons during the 30's, the decade the 21 Club was established. The furnishings consist of plush, pastel-colored chairs, and banquette seating lines the walls. And even the food is enhanced: Chef Erik Blauberg offers an exclusive special prix fixe menu and wine list at Upstairs, which differs from the regular a la carte Bar Room service on the first floor. —Suzanne Ito
