If you're tired of the clean minimalism that pervades modern design and want something older—much older—check out Re Sette, a new Italian restaurant with Gothic decor and an Old World attitude. The 1,800-square-foot, two-story Midtown restaurant features decor inspired by Italy circa 1500 with jewel-toned velvet and tapestry-covered chairs, deep banquettes and a wine collection on display behind a beautiful brass gate. On the second floor the 28-foot, 32-seat King's Table—Re Sette means "seven kings" in Italian—can make an interesting spot for a lunch meeting, or the entire floor can accommodate 60 for cocktails. —Suzanne Ito
