According to Crain's Chicago Business, the owners of the Gage—an upscale British-American restaurant across the street from Millennium Park—plan to open another eatery before the end of the year.
The new venue will overtake a space next door to the Gage, and although its concept is still being finalized, co-owner Catherine Gilmore-Lawless told Crain's: "It's not going to be as bar-centric [as the Gage.] We want it to be a really good restaurant with a great ambiance." She also revealed that the space, at 3,000 square feet, will be less than a third of the size of the Gage.
Of planning a new business venture in the current economy, Gilmore-Lawless said: "There's no margin for error. Whatever goes in there has to be absolutely perfect, so we're giving it a lot of thought."
