November 22, 2013: Top Caterers in Los Angeles, Coke Zero's Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest, Police Crack Down on Santa-Theme Bar Crawl

1. TOP CATERERS IN LOS ANGELES: Here are the hottest caterers in Los Angeles, according to the Hollywood Reporter: “What do they have in common? A commitment to the era's on-trend sensibilities: vegan- and gluten-sensitive offerings, seasonal menus, less stiff service and experiences customized beyond merely the food. Case in point: ‘People no longer want the white coats,’ says Patina director of catering Melissa Darpino. ‘So we now have a wardrobe department to outfit our servers to the style of the event.’ Only in L.A.” http://bit.ly/17uG1OL

2. COKE ZERO LAUNCHES UGLY HOLIDAY SWEATER PROMOTION: The Ugly Sweater Party, a relatively recent holiday theme, has been embraced by the corporate world, with Coke Zero announcing a contest around the idea. Adweek: “You design a sweater with minimal Coke branding, and it goes into an online gallery where other people can vote on the best/worst designs. The top 100 will be made and sent to their creators.” http://bit.ly/1dZqLdu

3. POLICE CRACK DOWN ON SANTA-THEME BAR CRAWL: SantaCon, a Manhattan bar crawl in which participants wear Santa costumes, may face trouble this year after the N.Y.P.D. asked bar and club owners to ban the event from their venues. DNA Info: "The number of participants has grown large enough to completely overwhelm the sidewalks and public spaces," police wrote in a letter to neighborhood bars. "Having thousands of intoxicated partygoers roam the streets urinating, littering, vomiting and vandalizing will not be tolerated in our neighborhood.” http://dnain.fo/18qm38w
