Syndicate Hospitality, the group founded by David Judaken and behind such venues as MyHouse, East, and Opera/Crimson, has opened MyStudio in the former Mood space. The new venue is 4,500 square feet with a posted capacity of 404. Full buyout is available, or a semiprivate area for about 40 may be created behind heavy curtains and includes its own bar.
The concept behind MyStudio is a "luxurious high-end nightclub in the style of a photographer's chic New York studio," according to Syndicate. The Manhattan-inspired lounge, meant to evoke the look and feel of a 1960s indie photographer's space, is adorned with touches of gold, marble, and black leather. Candid shots of models, easels, chandeliers, and bookshelves lined with vintage-inspired books and oversize industrial fans decorate the walls.
Gulla Jonsdottir at G+ designed the space, where cocktail servers wear silk gowns with lingerie underneath (inspired by models waiting for a photo shoot).
The bar is meant to conjure a camera flash, with gold tiling and a circular mirror in the center. Oversize industrial fans line one wall on the patio. Corseted pillars separate the Library Room, complete with bookshelves and a baby grand piano, from the dance floor and DJ booth. Mood lighting looks include customized draped chandeliers above the tables and dance floor and a bubble chandelier above the bar in the main room.
In all, there are two bars, a patio, valet parking, and a kitchen with catering by Velvet Rope Events. Outside catering is also allowed.
