Urban Union opens in Little Italy today. The highly anticipated restaurant serves dinner and brunch now, and lunch service will debut in the spring. The rustic venue, outfitted with exposed bricks and barn wood, has 65 seats. Semiprivate groups can book the chef's table, which seats 10, and a small private dining room can hold six guests.
Chef Michael Shrader's menu focuses on small plates with ingredients prepared in a wood-burning oven. The dishes are divided into four categories: "seafood," "pasta and dumplings," "meats and such," and "vegetables and friends." A raw bar offers specialties such as mussels, oysters, and Maine lobster, and the beverage list includes 150 vintage wines and 10 hand-crafted European cocktails.
