Name: Ashley Smith, owner, Buzzworthy Events, San Francisco
Launchpad: Smith started her career at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown San Francisco, working on events for big brands. “It was very exhilarating and creative and really propelled me to dig deeper into event design.” In 2012, she founded Buzzworthy Events.
Design philosophy: “I listen. That's such a huge component. I also try not to follow trends too much. I try to keep it timeless and avoid what everyone else is doing as much as I can.”
Party she wished she designed: “I would love to do something for Cleopatra and the Egyptians. That whole scene seems so dreamy and luxurious.”
Design inspiration: “I am always inspired by new people, places, and travel. This year, the desert especially. … I attended Burning Man for the first time last year, and that was incredibly inspiring after spectating how hard people work and their dedication to build a whole city for a weeklong event and to really push the envelope.”
Signature aesthetic: “I tend to be somewhat rustic but refined. Think a hacienda in Mexico or a ranch in Montana.”
