NATIONAL: The Canadian Liver Foundation's annual Stroll for Liver event is going virtual this year. The event, which aims to spread awareness about liver disease and raise funds for research, will take place on Aug. 30. All proceeds from the event will help to fund research to find a cure and better treatment options for people living with liver disease.
CALGARY: Tourism Calgary has launched the #LoveYYC Deals Pass pilot program, a digital resource that offers savings and deals at over 40 local restaurants, attractions, hotels, tours, and more. Accessible through any web browser, the event will help visitors and inhabitants save money and support local while they safely explore the city.
EDMONTON: The Grindstone Theatre group has announced the Re-Set Theatre Fest, a 13-day comedy and theater festival from Aug. 19-31. There are nine different shows with multiple performances across two venues, the Grindstone Theatre & Bistro itself and Grindstone Theatre School under the Mill Creek Café. To attend any of the performances in the theaters, a mask will be required and the venues will be limiting attendance to allow for proper spacing.
MONTREAL: The Royal Montreal Golf Club will become the second international venue to host the Presidents Cup in 2024. While precise dates have not been released yet, the competition will occur in late September. The event will use the entirety of the Club's 45 holes and 18-hole Blue Course. The next Presidents Cup, taking place in 2022, will be hosted at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
TORONTO: Beginning Aug. 14, the 1.5-kilometer walk that occurs after dusk will return to the Toronto Zoo. The event includes various lighting, multimedia effects, and video projections to enhance the guest experience. The park is taking all precautionary health measures, with various handwashing stations and a required face mask policy. Tickets are on sale online and are priced according to the age of the attendee.
