AUSTIN: Honoring Diana, an evening honoring Mexican cooking maven and author Diana Kennedy, will take place May 6 at Fonda San Miguel. Kennedy will sign books at the event, which will feature small bites, a signature cocktail, and mariachis. The event will benefit the Diana Kennedy Center, an educational nonprofit focused on cooking instruction and sustainability practices.

BOSTON: The Patios, presented by Berkshire Bank in partnership with the City of Boston and Boston Garden Development Corp., will return to City Hall Plaza for a second year on May 2. The space will hold family-friendly events, local food trucks and vendors, an airstream offering beer and margaritas, and more.

LOS ANGELES: Leap Foundation, a nonprofit that helps young people develop leadership skills, will hold its inaugural Leap Gala on April 24 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. Comedian Chris D’Elia and magician Simon Winthrop will perform at the event.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed Tracy Vaughan senior vice president of tourism and travel industry sales.

NEW YORK: Tribeca X: A Day of Conversations will debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26. The new program focuses on storytelling at the intersection of advertising and entertainment. Speakers will include P&G chief brand officer Marc Pritchard; AT&T Communications chief brand officer Fiona Carter; Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard; and actress Natasha Lyonne. The program is an extension of the fourth annual Tribeca X Awards, which celebrate artist and brand collaborations over the past year.

The 2019 Matrix Awards, presented by New York Women in Communications, will take place May 6 at the Sheraton New York Times Square. Honorees include Padma Lakshmi, host and executive producer of Top Chef; Kate Lewis, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines; Jeanine D. Liburd, chief marketing and communications officer of B.E.T. Networks; and Susan Magrino, chairman and C.E.O. of Magrino P.R.

Ballet Hispanico’s Carnaval Gala will take place May 6 at the Plaza. The event will honor Dancing with the Stars and Lourdes Lopez, artistic director of Miami City Ballet.

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC: The 52nd annual Festival d’ete de Quebec will take place July 4-14. Mariah Carey, Blink-182, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Chvrches will headline the event, which will have more than 250 performances at 10 venues, including the Bell Stage on the Plains of Abraham. 

TORONTO: The fourth annual Wanderluxxe, a benefit in support of the Air Canada Foundation and the Herbie Fund at the Hospital for Sick Children, will take place Thursday at Fort York Armoury.

WASHINGTON: Dynamic Spectrum Alliance’s seventh annual Global Summit will take place June 25-27 at the Westin Washington, D.C. City Center.
