People/Events/Accounts: News about the World's Big Sleep Out, the Trevor Project, Kohl's Holiday Pop-Up, and More

COAST TO COAST: The World’s Big Sleep Out, an event that aims to end global homelessness, will take place December 7. The event was founded by Josh Littlejohn M.B.E., the co-founder of the Scotland-based charity Social Bite. Sleep event locations including Trafalgar Square in London, with a bedtime story read by Helen Mirren; Times Square in New York, with a bedtime story read by Will Smith; and Elysian Park in Los Angeles, with a bedtime story read by Seth Green. 

LAS VEGAS: Golden Entertainment has appointed Stephen Thayer vice president and general manager of the Strat Hotel, Casino and SkyPod. The position was previously held by Chris Fiumara, who has been named Golden Entertainment’s regional senior vice president of operations. 

LOS ANGELES: The Trevor Project’s TrevorLive fund-raising gala will take place November 17 at the Beverly Hilton. Zazie Beetz and Sasheer Zamata will host the event, which will honor Cybill Shepherd and the PwC Charitable Foundation Inc.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Brightline, which will soon be known as Virgin Trains, has partnered with Rail Events Productions to host the Polar Express on select dates from November 16-December 29. The 60-minute holiday-theme train ride runs between Virgin MiamiCentral and Fort Lauderdale Brightline Station. 

MONTREAL: Time Out Market Montreal will have a pre-opening party on November 13 at Centre Eaton de Montreal. Slated to open in late 2019, the market will have 16 local vendors and three bars. 

NEW YORK: Kohl’s will host a holiday pop-up, “New Gifts at Every Turn,” November 7-10 at 632 Broadway in SoHo. The pop-up will feature gifts and customization stations, with brands including JW Jason Wu, Scott Living, LC Lauren Conrad, and Simply Vera Vera Wang.

SAN FRANCISCO: Hotel Bijou has completed a property-wide renovation. The hotel has 65 guest rooms and the 3,000-square-foot Gibson Restaurant, which is available for full buyouts. 

SEATTLE: Instawork, an on-demand staffing app for event workers and hospitality businesses, has expanded to Seattle. 

VANCOUVER: Arthritis Research Canada's annual ARThritis Soiree will take place May 21, 2020, at the Roof at Hotel Vancouver.
