People/Events/Accounts: News About LAX Taxis, 1 Hotel South Beach, IBTM Breaks its Own Records, and More

LOS ANGELES: Six days after Los Angeles International Airport banned Uber, Lyft, and other taxis from curbside pickups—and instead moved them all to a designated pick-up area—airport officials announced plans to significantly expand the pick-up spot, which is known as LAXit (sounds like “L.A. Exit"). The move comes after the ban led to long waits and mounting complaints. Los Angeles Times: "The rollout of the system was rocky, leaving some travelers facing gridlock, packed shuttles, and long wait times for rides during peak periods. Officials later apologized for the delays, which they described as 'unacceptable.'"
