CANADA: Canadian Grand Prix Canceled, Plus Quarantine Concerts, a New eSports Arena, and More

NATIONAL: FashionGo, a B-to-B wholesale marketplace, has announced its first-ever "FashionGo Week" online trade show experience, running Aug. 24 to Sept. 6. The digital experience will allow participating vendors to upload brand videos, incorporate their brand story, showcase lookbooks, and highlight new arrivals on their dedicated brand pages. FashionGo will host select vendors on its main page and feature them in live interviews, as well as hold webinar conversations with industry experts on topics such as COVID-19’s impact on business, upcoming trends, and customer experience. 

CALGARY: The Banff Centre International String Quartet Festival has partnered with the Violin Channel to host "quarantine concerts" from Aug. 1-5 in place of the festival this year. The event will feature free concerts with Attacca, New Orford, PUBLIQuartet, and many other musicians. Pre-registration for the free festival will open on Aug. 6. 

MONTREAL: The 2020 Canadian Grand Prix has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event had originally been rescheduled for Oct. 9-11 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve at Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau. The Grand Prix is planning to continue its races for the season in Europe, adding Germany’s Nurburgring circuit into the lineup. 

TORONTO: OverActive Media, the owner of Toronto Defiant and Toronto Ultra, is building a new eSports arena next to BMO Field and Hotel X. The new arena will not only host sports but also concerts and other entertainment events. Bob Hunter, who has helped develop other sports arenas including Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena, and BMO Field, has been hired to oversee and coordinate with government officials. 

VANCOUVER: Valo Cellars and Massalto Wines will share a joint tasting room at The Waterfront Vancouver come November. This is the seventh wine-focused retail space to be announced as part of this development. The two wineries are co-owned by chef Michael Ruhland and winemaker Matias Kusulas and will be located in one of the ground floor retail spaces at the Rediviva apartment building.
