US: A Virtual Disco Party, a 'Los Angeles Times' Dinner Series, a New Event Pro Collective, and More

NATIONAL: Gabrielle's Angel Foundation will hold a virtual disco party to raise funds for cancer research on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. The Studio 54-theme evening will be hosted by songwriter Denise Rich and her daughters, Daniella Rich Kilstock and Ilona Rich Schachter, to honor the memory of Gabrielle Rich Aouad. The event will feature DJ Cassidy and performances by Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, and more. 

The Black Table will host a Leadership Forum webinar on "Reinventing Yourself for Success" today at 6 p.m. EST/3 p.m. PST. Panelists include director and community activist Sheryl Lee Ralph, event designer André Wells, Forbes Expert Panel's Pasha Carter, and entertainment manager Kenny Hamilton. 

BALTIMORE: Downtown Columbia Partnership and The Howard Hughes Corporation are hosting the fourth annual Books in Bloom Festival virtually from July 13 to Aug. 20. The downtown Columbia, Md., tradition is a celebration of the joy of books and reading, but has been extended this year to a weeks-long virtual series, which will include panels, contests, workshops, and event partnerships with established local businesses. 

LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Times has announced that the Los Angeles Dinner Series, presented by City National Bank and charity partner Project Angel Food, will kick off on Sept. 5 with a collaboration dinner from Kato and Nightshade. The Dinner Series will feature two types of events: chef collaboration meals and celebrity dinner parties to combine takeout meals with a rotating virtual supper club. The event lineup will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for each dinner event are $175 per person, with a three-course meal available for pickup on the day of.

NEW YORK: Time for Homes Inc. has opened with offices in the Capital District and is seeking volunteers from around the nation to help its efforts to end homelessness. Their current goal is focused on solving the crisis in New York State and to use it as a model to roll out nationally. Time For Homes Inc. will host its inaugural virtual conference on Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.

WASHINGTON, DC: The Distilled Collective is a new venture from a group of event pros: planners Magnolia Bluebird, videographer Monachetti, photographers Eli Turner Studio, floral designers Flowers at 38, musicians Zandi Entertainment, and calligrapher Arney Walker Studio. The collective's goal is to connect with clients as a team, creating customized and turnkey solutions for small events with short turnaround times.
