NATIONAL: The Canadian Pacific (CP) Rail announced—for the first time in 20 years—that it won’t be running the Holiday Train this year due to COVID-19. The Holiday Train typically travels across the country raising money, collecting food, and raising awareness about the importance of local food banks. Instead, CP Rail will be hosting a virtual concert to draw attention to food and security issues across Canada. More details about the virtual concert and 2021 Holiday Train will be released in the coming weeks.
TORONTO: Startup Fashion Week (SFW) is taking place Oct. 19-23 as a blend of digital events and in-person engagements. The five-day hybrid event will feature a runway show taking place at the Immersive van Gogh Exhibit and will celebrate startup businesses by bringing together fashion, business, art, film, and technology.
TEDxToronto has announced its first list of speakers for its 12th annual event. The first half of the digital series will take place Oct. 29 and Nov. 26 with the theme “Uncharted,” featuring four interactive digital experiences. VANCOUVER: The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) Centre has received a $2.8 million makeover that was revealed just in time for the 39th annual festival, which took place last week. The renovation revealed a secondary auditorium, major upgrades to common areas and concessions, a new 500-square-foot education suite with a media lab, and more.
