INTERNATIONAL: Aloft Tulum’s grand opening is taking place Feb. 1 and will be the first Marriott International property to debut in Tulum, Quintana Roo. The bohemian-inspired hotel will feature 140 guest rooms and suites including a signature rooftop lounge and bar and 2,761 square feet of indoor meeting space for as many as 240 guests.
ADDISON, TEXAS: The city of Addison is currently planning to host its annual events in person in 2021, although they will continue to look different due to COVID-19. The first event to make its return this year will be Taste Addison, slated to take place June 4-5 in Addison Circle Park. Events taking place later in the year include Addison Kaboom Town!, Oktober Fest and Addison After Dark.
ATLANTA: Georgia Production Partnership is organizing its inaugural Georgia Production Summit Jan. 15-16. Hosted by NBC Universal, the two-day summit will be an immersive virtual experience featuring panel discussions with keynote speakers, one-on-one sessions and networking opportunities from professionals in the film, music and gaming industries. ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Great Lakes’ $30 million renovation is slated to be complete in February. The reopening will feature 582 updated guest rooms, a new luxury pool with cabanas, an improved Club Lounge and more. The property’s design is inspired by its surrounding grounds and wildlife-filled waters.
PHILADELPHIA: Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) has launched a Bachelor of Science in Event and Entertainment Management. The new degree program aims to help prepare students for the rising demand of hybrid events, teach them how to host a virtual event and help with the recovery of live gatherings.
