CANADA: A Live Concert With COVID Testing, a Virtual Career Fair, a Major Parade Cancellation and More

GLOBAL: On March 25, virtual events provider Hopin will gather over 10,000 event and marketing professionals for Hybrid Events: Unlocked, a digital conference on all things hybrid. Brands including Drift, TechCrunch and Gong will discuss how digital technology is reshaping the event industry and how to realize the full potential of hybrid events. The free program, a partnership with emc3, will also include a walk-through of an on-site venue in London, a masterclass on hybrid event production and a workshop on live audience engagement. RSVP here.

NATIONAL: Organizers of the 93rd Academy Awards have revealed more details for the April 25 event, taking place at Union Station and the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Only nominees, their guests and the presenters will be able to attend the ceremony in person, and all in-person events surrounding the show—including the Oscars Nominees Luncheon and the Governors Ball after-party—have been canceled.

MONTREAL: En Route! The Event, a virtual career fair devoted to electric and smart transportation, will take place March 29-30. The event, co-presented by the Quebec government and in cooperation with more than 40 partners, will connect students, workers and job seekers with Quebec-based businesses and educational institutions in order to help them learn skills needed for the workforce.

OTTAWA: The Ontario Festival Industry Taskforce is billing The Long Road Back as the first event of its kind in Canada, where they will begin screening attendees with rapid COVID-19 tests. Both a ticket and a negative test are required to attend the outdoor show, which takes place at Lansdowne Park on March 27 and features soul band the Commotions. There is a limit of 100 attendees, and everyone will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA: Surrey's Vaisakhi Khalsa Day Parade has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. The parade, which was originally scheduled for April 24, is the largest of its kind in the world, typically drawing 500,000 people. This is the second year in a row that the event was canceled; organizers hope to return in 2022.
