CANADA: Event Tech Live, World Figure Skating Championship, Building Diversity Awards and More

NATIONAL: Registration is now open for the inaugural Event Tech Live USA & Canada. Organizers have revealed details for the first four sessions, which include chats with SXSW chief innovator Scott Wilcox, a discussion on the future of exhibitions with Tarsus Group’s Rachel Wimberly and ExpoDevCo’s David Audrain, a conversation on trade shows with Informa’s Kathryn Frankson and more.

On April 15, event management software Aventri will launch Aventri Virtual Events 2.0, a revamped platform for interactive virtual and hybrid events. The offering features a sleek new design, including an enhanced virtual networking suite with AI-driven matchmaking and collaboration tools. For ease of use, there are templates and do-it-yourself customization tools; Aventri has also revamped its mobile app to support hybrid events.

The next edition of AnyRoad’s Polaris webinar series will feature Monica Gandhi, M.D., a professor of medicine and infectious diseases at UCSF. Along with AnyRoad co-founder Daniel Yaffe, Gandhi will discuss best practices for hosting safe, in-person events, as well as what the experience economy will look like in a post-vaccine world. It takes place on April 13 at 3 p.m. ET.

MONTREAL: Montreal and Skate Canada are in the process of placing a bid to host the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships. If chosen, Montreal will bring the event back to Canadian ice for the 11th time and the first time in Montreal since 1932. Montreal was set to host the 2020 Figure Skating Championships but was unable to due to restrictions from the pandemic.

TORONTO: Toronto Community Benefits Network will host its inaugural Building Diversity Awards on May 13. The show will recognize contractors, unions and individuals in Toronto that are leading the way to increase the participation of Black and Indigenous workers in the construction industry. The event will be produced by Debonair Corporate Events.
