NATIONAL: TED has partnered with Clubhouse to bring speakers into the drop-in audio app. The first show, Thank Your Ass Off, launched July 12 with author A.J. Jacobs, who was joined by Clubhouse creator Mir Harris; the pair invited Clubhouse members to join the conversation about unsung heroes. More TED speakers and shows participating in the partnership will be announced at a later date.
Shindig recently debuted its virtual lobby functionality, which allows guests to mingle, network and conduct private business on the platform. The technology is designed for both virtual and hybrid events, allowing free-form interactions like those at an in-person event, where attendees can see who is talking to whom and who is free for a conversation.
NEW BRUNSWICK: The Shediac Lobster Festival took place in New Brunswick this weekend, the first major summer fest in the area since the start of the pandemic. The festival featured two different concerts with pod seating where groups of eight were surrounded by guardrails. As another safety precaution, there were no carnival rides and no food on site.
TORONTO: Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training And Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) will relaunch on on July 29. The exhibit will be held at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in partnership with Victory Hill Exhibitions. There will be multiple rooms dedicated to characters including Captain America, Black Panther, Thor and more from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The venue will have timed ticketed entry and limited capacity.
VANCOUVER: The Canada Sevens Rugby tournament is scheduled to return to BC Place from Sept. 18-19, barring any complications with the approval process. It would be the first Sevens Series event in Canada since Vancouver’s tournament in March 2020. Tickets and logistical information are expected to be released in August.
