MONTREAL: Montreal’s popular Italian Week, now known as ItalfestMTL, will celebrate its 28th edition from Aug. 6-22. The free, three-week festival will highlight food and music from local Italian culture, and will include safe in-person activities along with virtual concerts and comedy shows.

OWEN SOUND, ONTARIO: Sportsnet has selected Owen Sound to host the 2022 Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. The broadcast portion of Hockey Day in Canada will take place Jan. 29, at Harrison Park, though there will be various gatherings leading up to the main event including a gala banquet, a celebrity and alumni game, children’s clinics, school outreach programs and more.

QUESNEL, BRITISH COLUMBIA: The 2024 BC Winter Games are coming to Quesnel, their first time in the city since 2000. The event, taking place Feb. 22-25, typically features 19 sports and 2,100 participants, and it results in an estimated $1.6 million economic benefit for host communities. Meanwhile, Prince George will host the next BC Summer Games from July 21-24, 2022, while Maple Ridge and Kelowna will host future editions of the Summer Games.

VANCOUVER: The Harmony Arts Festival, West Vancouver’s annual summer celebration of the visual, performing and literary arts, had to skip its 2020 edition during the pandemic—but the 2021 event is currently underway, running from July 30 to Aug. 8, at its long-time home on Argyle Avenue between 14th and 16th Streets. Festival highlights this year include the RE/MAX Garden Stage with daily concerts, a street art market, local food trucks and more; there’s also a new special event featuring live improv from Vancouver’s Blind Tiger Comedy.
