NATIONAL: Event and community platform Swapcard has launched a new handheld app called SwapAccess, which provides event planners with an all-in-one registration and session access solution for hybrid events. Organizers can track session attendance and control access for both in-person and virtual participants on the phone and tablet app, which works with Swapcard’s ecosystem.
LOS ANGELES: Clarion Events Food & Beverage Group along with the California Restaurant Association announced that the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo will be held August 28-30, 2022, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: AC Hotel Fort Lauderdale Airport, the brand's newest South Florida property, will open Sept. 14. The hotel has 154 rooms, business travel-friendly amenities, elevated cocktail programs and menu offerings from AC Kitchen, a fitness center and a rooftop pool with views of the city.
PORT CHESTER, NY: The Capitol Theatre, a 2,000-seat theater located 30 miles from New York City, has promoted Emily Schmalholz to head of special events. Schmalholz previously worked as a television producer for VH1 before forming her own event company, Life of the Party Productions. In addition, the theater has appointed Lauren Northey to the role of special events sales manager.
RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF: The Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau has changed its name to Visit Greater Palm Springs, along with launching a new logo. Tourism has remained the top industry in Greater Palm Springs, as one out of every five jobs is supported by tourism, and the new name is meant to further the economic growth of the industry.
