CANADA: Park Hyatt Toronto Reopens, Plus Updates on Vancouver Writers Festival, Gourmet Week and More

NATIONAL: Event and experience marketing agency George P. Johnson (GPJ) has acquired a significant minority stake in one of its long-term partners, full-service video agency NOMOBO. The investment allows GPJ to expand its cinematic approach to virtual and hybrid events by creating high-quality productions that make broadcasts part of the overall experience design, rather than just an add-on.

MONTREAL: Gourmet Week kicked off this weekend at Time Out Market Montreal, and runs through Sept. 26. The event offers attendees an opportunity to explore all the restaurants that the Eaton Centre-based food hall has to offer at discounted rates. Tickets are priced at $25.42, and give access to a variety of meals and chefs, with a selection of exclusive dishes priced at $5. Each card allows access to four plates, meaning three tickets allows guests to test every menu item.

TORONTO: Park Hyatt Toronto is officially set to resume operations after a multimillion-dollar renovation. The restored hotel offers new interiors from Studio Munge, plus 219 luxury guest rooms, a variety of food and beverage concepts, a new 6,146-square-foot ballroom, a meeting space, and a permanent art collection highlighting pieces from renowned Canadian and indigenous artists including An Te Liu and Shannon Bool.

Fall n’ Leaves is coming back to Toronto a second year for a socially distanced outdoor event from Oct. 1-17. The celebration of all-things Autumn will feature four fire pits, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin bowling and live acoustic music on select nights, and every Friday and Saturday night the pumpkin patch will transform into a dance floor with a live DJ.

VANCOUVER: Vancouver Writers Festival returns to Granville Island this year from Oct.18-24. The festival, which in normal years draws upwards of 20,000 attendees, will include some in-person and virtual events with acclaimed writers set to lead conversations on a range of themes. Tickets are on sale now.
