NATIONAL: The SEARCH Foundation has announced its incoming board of directors for 2022, which includes chairwoman Kate Patay of Patay Consulting, vice chair Patrick McMichael of Denon & Doyle, treasurer Larry Green of International Event Products, secretary David Lombardo of Lombardo’s and executive advisor Joann Roth-Oseary of Someone’s in the Kitchen, along with a variety of directors from across the event industry. The SEARCH Foundation exists to assist event, meeting, catering and hospitality professionals faced with a crisis.
Convene—a provider of premium virtual and hybrid events with a network of meeting, event and workplace locations—is enhancing its virtual and hybrid meetings product, Convene Studio, by embedding the Amazon Chime software development kit (SDK) voice and video capability into the product. Convene’s breakout sessions will now be hosted on a custom-built player, allowing users to stay within the platform for breakout sessions and have a simpler user experience.
CALGARY: The seventh annual Peter Burgener Memorial Fundraiser Concert for Classrooms event takes place Nov. 5 at the Bella Concert Hall at Mount Royal University. The VIP party and concert from Barney Bengal & The Cariboo Express will raise funds for the CIRCLE program, which empowers Indigenous youth by connecting their classrooms with Indigenous athlete mentors.
TORONTO: The city’s newest immersive art exhibit is open through Nov. 28 at 1 Yonge St. Immersive Klimt uses 500,000 cubic feet of projections, 60,600 frames of video and 90,000,000 pixels to bring famous paintings from Gustav Klimt to life, including “The Kiss,” “Flower Garden” and “The Tree of Life.”
VANCOUVER: The 21st Annual Chutzpah! Festival, a Jewish arts and culture festival, will take place Nov. 4-24 with comedy shows, dance and theater performances, mixed media displays and concerts from artists across Canada as well as Israel, the United States and the United Kingdom. The event is taking place both in person at venues across Vancouver, as well as virtually, and it kicks off tonight with an opening-night screening of the Marx Bros. classic A Night at the Opera accompanied by singers from City Opera Vancouver.
