NATIONAL: Event experience operating system Bizzabo has acquired Klik, a Montreal-based event tech start-up that provides smart wearable tech to power on-site experiences, allowing planning to easily measure attendee engagement, participation and networking. The wearables can also trigger customized recommendations on content, networking opportunities, sponsors to visit and more. Klik’s team will now be based out of Bizzabo’s newly opened Montreal office; it’s Bizzabo’s fourth acquisition in six months.
CALGARY: The Calgary International Film Festival will host a conversation with actor and model Isabella Rossellini on Dec. 9. Originally slated to take place during the September festival, the event had been postponed due to COVID-19-related restrictions. The presentation will take place at TELUS Spark. Rossellini will also be the narrator of the Science Center's latest immersion gallery experience, Every Second, running until the end of January.
EDMONTON: The Festival of Trees, presented by the University Hospital Foundation, will be a hybrid event this year. The festivities began on Nov. 2 and will run until Dec. 23. All funds raised will go towards supporting people who live with end-stage kidney disease. Some of the events include Gifts of Gratitude, Santa's Breakfast and a 50/50 raffle.
MONTREAL: Sports complex Combat d’Archers is letting guests live out their Mario Kart dreams via its new go-kart track, which acts as a replica of the popular Nintendo game—complete with the original soundtrack, plush versions of turtle shells and banana peels, character-themed karts and helmets, and other fun details. For events, packages for up to 10 players cost $250 and offer access to a party room after the racing session.
VANCOUVER: The Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel has launched an on-site, rapid COVID-19 testing facility in partnership with Bon Voyage Medical. A variety of testing options are available, ranging from rapid viral antigen to RT-PCR and other NAAT tests.
