CANADA: News From the Inaugural FrostFest, the Toronto Biennial of Art, Canyon Lights and More

NATIONAL: Blackthorn.io, a platform that deals with event management and payment processing solutions on Salesforce, has acquired Textey.io, an SMS solutions provider for the Salesforce community which will be offered via the Salesforce AppExchange. Blackthorn.io customers will now be able to send Paylink transactions to customers via SMS with a shortened URL, making for faster and more successful mobile payments.

Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced the senior leadership appointment of Peter Palli as chief commercial officer. Palli will be responsible for all revenue generating efforts across sales, marketing, revenue management, distribution and analytics, as well as operations at the Omni customer-contact center. With 25 years of experience, Palli joins Omni from Signature Aviation, where he was vice president of revenue management and analytics, leading efforts to digitize the commercial operation.

CALGARY: FrostFest is a new all-ages festival designed to celebrate Calgary’s status as a winter city through various activities and displays, including ice-carving demonstrations, crafts, music and games. The event kicked off last weekend at Valleypark and will turn Nov. 26-28 at Sacramento Park. The outdoor gathering is free to attend. 

TORONTO: The Toronto Biennial of Art has announced its roster of Canadian and international artists for the city-wide event’s second edition, taking place from March 26 to June 5, 2022. The 72-day event will feature 23 new commissions at nine venues across the city, with works selected by the curatorial team of Tairone Bastien, Candice Hopkins and Katie Lawson.

VANCOUVER: North Vancouver's famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will again host the Canyon Lights event, which was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Canyon Lights features thousands of twinkling lights adorning the bridge and the surrounding 250-year-old Douglas firs. Tickets must be purchased in advance for timed reservations.
