NATIONAL: Gaylord Hotels is transforming its five U.S. resorts into winter wonderlands with Winterfest, which runs from Jan. 7 to Feb. 27 at the brand’s properties in Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado and Maryland. Each property will feature winter-themed activities, experiences and performances, including scavenger hunts, escape rooms, art studios, light shows and more.
LAS VEGAS: Performing on select dates in January and March, Katy Perry kicked off her multidate residency at the new 5,000-seat theater at Resorts World Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve. The theater is operated by Concerts West/AEG Presents and was designed by Scéno Plus.
LOS ANGELES: The LA Art Show takes place Jan. 19-23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall. The event will include the DIVERSEartLA program, along with a focus on new media, digital and cutting-edge art trends like NFTs. Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test will be required, and masks are mandatory.
MAALAEA, HAWAII: Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the ocean through science and advocacy and inspiring environmental stewardship, will host its annual Run & Walk for Whales event virtually from Feb. 1-28. People from around the world are invited to join PWF’s mission and walk, jog or run 14.9 miles, the distance from the organization’s world headquarters in Maalaea, Maui, to its social enterprise’s retail Ocean Store in Lahaina.
WASHINGTON, DC: The PCMA Foundation 2022 PCMA Visionary Awards, which were established to honor and celebrate the global business event industry’s stars, will be held on March 24 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The celebration is in conjunction with the inaugural Business Events Industry Week, which is powered by Destinations International and PCMA and is a week dedicated to convening the global business event industry in the United States Association capital.
