CALGARY: Comedic duo Jay and Silent Bob have been added to the lineup for this year’s Calgary Expo, taking place April 21-24 at Stampede Park. The news follows a previous announcement that Ming-Na Wen, known for The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, will also appear at the convention, which was canceled in 2020 and hosted a limited edition expo in 2021.
EDMONTON: Arts on the Ave is hosting the 15th annual Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Fête, at Borden Park and Pipon Village from Jan. 14-23. This year’s event has an “Under the Ancient Arctic Sky” theme featuring ice sculptures, light and lantern installations, workshops and more, all celebrating Ukrainian, Métis, French Canadian, Inuit and Indigenous cultures. Tickets are free.
MONTREAL: Hyatt Centric’s first Canadian property is slated to open in early 2022 in Old Montreal. The 177-room Hyatt Centric Old Montreal will include a restaurant, bar, gym and a rooftop swimming pool, along with a variety of meeting and conference spaces.
TORONTO: This marks the last week of Drive Thru Fun Co.’s Snow Magic holiday experience, an immersive drive-thru journey of illuminated art projections, pyrotechnics and light tunnels. The 1.7-kilometer activity is being held at Ontario Place until Jan. 16; ticket prices range from $45-$65.
Slated to open in March, the W Toronto is a nine-story, 254-room hotel in Yorkville. The property will have 4,678 square feet of event space, including six event rooms, the largest of which holds 200. There’s also the on-site W Sound Suite featuring a complete recording studio for podcasts or other events.
