GLOBAL: Registration is now open for IMEX in Frankfurt, Germany, which will take place May 31 to June 2 with a preshow dedicated to specialist education for corporate, association and agency buyers on May 30. The 20th-anniversary event for the global business event community will be held at Messe Frankfurt.
SUDBURY, ONTARIO: Construction on a new arena and event center in Sudbury is slated to begin in Q3 of this year. The space will have 5,800 seats for sporting events or a capacity of 6,500 for concerts. It will be part of the larger Kingsway Entertainment District, which will also have a casino, a hotel, restaurants and a festival square.
TORONTO: TCS is the new title sponsor and tech partner of the Toronto Waterfront Marathon from 2022-2026, taking over from previous sponsor Scotiabank. Through the partnership, the company hopes to introduce a new official race app that will offer a carbon footprint calculator for attendees to track and offset their impact on the environment when attending the race. The marathon will take place Oct. 16, and registration opens on Jan. 25.
The 2022 Snowed In Comedy Tour will take place at The Royal on April 2. Performers will include Sirius-XM Radio Top Comic winner and Toronto native Pete Zedlacher, along with Debra DiGiovanni, a three-time winner of Best Female Stand-Up at the Canadian Comedy Awards, and Paul Myrehaug, winner of Comedy Network’s Great Canadian Laugh Off.
VANCOUVER: World Rugby has announced that the upcoming Canada Sevens tournament, due to take place Feb. 26-27, has been postponed to April 16-17 over COVID-19 concerns. The Los Angeles tournament has also been postponed to August and will now serve as the grand finale of the men’s series. The Rugby World Cup Sevens is slated to take place in September in Cape Town, South Africa.
