CANADA: The Niagara Falls Convention Centre, a New Toronto Hotel, a Virtual Event on Mental Health and More

MONTREAL: The 10th edition of La Poutine Week is kicking off in Montreal on Feb. 1. Restaurants participating in the two-week-long festival will nod to the Canadian delicacy by creating their own signature poutine dish in efforts to become the city-wide champion. There are 69 participating restaurants in Montreal and more than 420 across Quebec. Since the province is still largely shut down due to COVID-19, many restaurants will be delivering poutine to hungry patrons via DoorDash.

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO: The Scotiabank Convention Centre has announced a name change to kick off 2022: the Niagara Falls Convention Centre (NFCC). The purpose of the new name is to honor the event space's adjacent location to Niagara Falls. Opened in 2011, the NFCC is the Niagara region’s largest event space with more than 300,000 square feet of flexible event space that can accommodate as many as 6,750.

TORONTO: On Feb. 1 from 12-1 p.m., Canadian Club Toronto is hosting a virtual event designed to promote the mental health and overall well-being of Canadian athletes. The discussion will feature a panel of renowned speakers–from Olympic gold medalists to Lululemon’s CEO–who all understand the toll that competitive pressures take on mental health. Attendees can register for the free event on Canadian Club Toronto’s website.

The Ace Hotel Toronto is slated to open at the end of spring and is now taking reservations for as early as June 15. The 200-room hotel features more than 6,000 square feet of event space, plus multifunctional meeting rooms and unique decor inspired by Finnish saunas and Japanese bento boxes.

VANCOUVER: The third annual edition of Virtual Brigid’s Festival Vancouver is slated to take place Jan. 30 to Feb. 1. Designed to focus on the celebration of women, the three-day event will feature storytellers from Ireland and Canada, who will dive into the history of goddesses and host traditional Irish cross-weaving workshops and panel discussions on Irish mother and baby institutions. Attendees can register for the free event via the Brigid Festival’s website.
