NATIONAL: Bacardi Canada, Inc. has announced that Jeff Branson will return to the brand as the vice president and general manager for Canada. Branson has two decades worth of experience in the beverage industry and spent 16 of those years at Bacardi. He joins the brand again after working as the SVP of sales for Bacardi’s portfolio at Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits for the past two years.
MONTREAL: In honor of Asian Heritage Month, on May 1, Montreal will welcome the first-ever Marché Majes Thé Market (which translates directly to “Majes Tea Market”), an Asian dessert and craft market. Designed to promote Asian entrepreneurship in the city, the event will feature foods and products from a selection of local businesses, including Ri Yuè Célébration, Golden Triangle Coffee, Pâtisserie T.M. and Atelier Fleuriste. Event organizer Laura Luu has also created an online support group—the Group d’Entraide contre le racisme envers les asiatiques au Québec—in order to fight against Asian discrimination while promoting mental health.
TORONTO: American Express is hosting a three-day pop-up and serving up rosé to celebrate the brand’s Gold Rewards Card, which is now available in rose gold metal. Dubbed the Amex Rose Gold Experience, the event is taking place April 28-30 at the Queen and Ossington in Downtown Toronto, and all travel enthusiasts and rose gold-obsessed shoppers are invited.
Canada’s largest picnic, The Rosé Picnic, announced it will return to Exhibition Place at Bandshell Park on Aug. 6. from 12-11 p.m. The park will be transformed into a sea of pink and white in honor of the rosy-colored beverage, and gourmet picnic fare by chef Mark McEwan and The Food Dudes will be served. Tickets are now available on The Rosé Picnic’s website, starting at $40. VIP experiences are also available, starting at $900, for groups up to six to receive a high-top table, bottle of premium rosé, spirits with mixers, an antipasti platter, Fiji water and more.
VANCOUVER: Vancouver’s first Formula E Race, which was slated to take place at False Creek in July, has been pushed to an undetermined date in 2023. While the three-day event had yet to receive a permit from the city, One Stop Strategy (OSS) Group, the Montreal-based company organizing the Formula E event, did not disclose exactly why the race was postponed. Meanwhile, more than 30,000 tickets have already been sold for the headlining Formula E electric car race, with programming that included a live performance by Nickelback and a business conference focused on climate change solutions.
