BANFF: The Banff Sunshine Village, a ski resort, is hosting its annual Slush Cup on May 23 for the first time in three years. During the Slush Cup 92 competition, participants will ski or snowboard down a run into an icy pool of water, and the objective is to skim across the pool until you reach the end. To enter, aspiring participants must sign a waiver on Banff Sunshine’s website, and for onlookers, it costs $20 to attend.
CALGARY: The Cowboys Music Festival returns to the Calgary Stampede July 7-17 after a two-year, COVID-induced hiatus, and announced the event’s headliner—DJ Marshmello—earlier this week. Marshmello will be performing July 10, and general admission tickets are now available to his performance on the festival’s website for $79.99. More announcements regarding the Cowboys Music Festival lineup will be made in the coming weeks.
RICHMOND, B.C.: The Richmond Night Market is taking place now through Oct. 10, and the 2022 theme is “Summer Magic Rainbow.” As the largest night market in North America, the annual event features hundreds of cuisines from around the world, plus a slew of vendors, and a lineup of performances on the 50-foot, on-site entertainment stage. The market is open 7 p.m.-12 a.m. on Fridays, 6 p.m.-12 a.m. on Saturdays, and 7-11 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. General admission is $6.
TORONTO: Bulgari has been announced as a major sponsor and official jewelry partner of the 47th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which is slated for Sept. 8-18. The Rome-based fine jewelry brand will also sponsor the fourth annual TIFF Tribute Awards on Sept. 11. Set to take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the fundraising gala will honor the film industry’s outstanding contributors, along with their achievements. The star-studded event will support TIFF’s Every Story fund in efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the film industry.
VANCOUVER: Comedy Here Often? and Funny 101 have partnered to bring Asian Takeover to the Hollywood Theatre in honor of May as Asian Heritage Month. Taking place May 20 at 8 p.m., tickets are $28.88, and the lineup features host Julie Kim, headliner Irene Tu, as well as two features—Andrea Jin and Yumi Nagashima. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and guests 19 and older are welcome to enjoy pre-show cocktails.
