CANADA: Amex Canada and Blueprint Collaborate to Support BIPOC Business Owners, Launch of The Man From Toronto, Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival in Vancouver, and More

NATIONAL: Amex Canada has announced the second year of Blueprint: Backing BIPOC Businesses, powered by the DMZ. DMZ is a mentorship and grant program that has been designed to support the advancement of 100 business owners who identify as Black, indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) across Canada. Business owners can apply online. Blueprint will offer selected applicants a mentorship program, resources, and business coaching as well as a $10,000 grant to help fund their next stage of business.

EDMONTON: A 10th Annual Canada Day Weekend Block Party will be held at Blues on Whyte in Edmonton June 30-July 2. A variety of musical performances will take the stage throughout the duration of the weekend. Admission price ranges from $20-$50, and attendees must be over 18. 

MONTREAL: Norman Nawrocki, an acclaimed Montreal playwright, actor, and musician, has blended together Canadian history along with Ukrainian folkloric medicinal rituals to create a family memoir combining elements of hope, courage, and resistance. Nawrocki wrote, directed, and performs in the play Run Nawrocki Run! Escape from Banff Prison, which will be shown June 20-July 4 on his Youtube channel. The 40-minute play streams for free, but appreciates any donations made to the Fundacja Folkowisko Foundation. 

TORONTO: Tastemade and Netflix have collaborated to curate "Teddy Tables,” inspired by the streaming service's new film, The Man from Toronto, starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy multi-course meals inspired by the film, as well as specialty cocktails and appetizers. The playful dining experience is taking place June 24-25 at LaRina Pastificio & Vino in New York, La Cha Cha Cha in Los Angeles, and Baro in Toronto. Reservations open on June 22 and will be limited.

VANCOUVER: Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival will take place at Concord Pacific Place and Creekside Park June 25-26. Festival activities include racing, musical performances, a local marketplace, food vendors, an art program, as well as family-friendly activities. Private racer events will be held on June 24, and all activities are available for free.
