GLOBAL: Discover Puerto Rico and Marriott International have partnered to announce the launch of "Live Boricua" experience packages that offer immersive rooms, featuring arts, decor, experiences, and culinary offerings deeply rooted in the Puerto Rican DNA. Inspired by Discover Puerto Rico’s Live Boricua brand campaign, which invites travelers to enjoy things the Boricua—or Puerto Rican—way, these travel packages include lodging and experiences that highlight Puerto Rico’s diversified talent and local brands. Participating hotels include AC Hotel by Marriott San Juan Condado, The St. Regis Bahia Beach, and Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino.
MIAMI: The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has made five key staff appointments in support of an increased emphasis on communications, customer service, multicultural promotion and inclusion, and community engagement. Gisela Marti will lead the marketing and tourism division as its new senior vice president. Newly named senior vice president Connie Kinnard will continue to spearhead expanded multicultural tourism development efforts, and Richard Gibbs has been named director of corporate communications and external affairs. Marianne Schmidhofer rejoins the GMCVB after 10 years as director of meetings and convention services, and Jennifer Diaz-Alzuri also returns to the GMCVB as the vice president of marketing communications.
NEW ORLEANS: Chris Bundick has been named the director of financial planning and reporting for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the sixth largest convention center in the nation. Bundick will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in managing of financial planning, budgeting, analytics, and the comprehensive reporting process. Most recently, Bundick served as the vice president of finance and operations at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans. There, he managed a multimillion-dollar budget and emphasized a culture of unity and transparency.
ORLANDO: JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes has completed multimillion-dollar renovations. The transformative project across the entire Grande Lakes Orlando resort—which also includes The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes—features an expansive waterpark, an original culinary venue from award-winning chef John Tesar, refreshed guest rooms and suites, the introduction of executive family suites, and a redesigned and upgraded lobby lounge.
SALT LAKE CITY: The 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City officially opened its doors on Oct. 17, debuting as the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Utah and the only hotel directly adjoining the Salt Palace Convention Center. The property adds 60,000 square feet of event space to the destination and offers 700 guest rooms and suites. The hotel boasts the largest indoor hotel ballroom in Salt Lake City and the largest outdoor rooftop space in the city with its Sundance Terrace.
