US: The 71st Miss Universe Competition’s Broadcast Partner, a Pop-Up Bar Celebrating the Legend of Krampus, New Hotel Leadership, and More

GLOBAL: The Miss Universe Organization has announced that The Roku Channel will be the exclusive English-language broadcast partner for the 71st Miss Universe Competition. The three-hour program will be livestreamed from New Orleans, La. on Jan. 14, 2023, and will end with the current Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu, crowning her successor. The pageant will air in more than 165 countries and will be televised in Spanish on Telemundo.

LOS ANGELES: LA’s Lost Property Bar is being transformed into Krampus’ Cove, a holiday pop-up experience, now through Dec. 31. Guests can expect themed specialty cocktails and a decked-out holiday space that nods to the legend of Krampus, the horned figure from Alpine folklore. Krampus’ Cove is the brainchild of Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage, the team behind the popular Halloween-themed pop-up bar Black Lagoon. Guests can purchase tickets to the holiday experience online, with seatings available at 5 and 7:30 p.m.

NEW YORK: Hilton has appointed Thom Casks as the general manager of the Hilton New York Times Square. Caska joined Hilton in 2014, and brings years of experience to the 478-key hotel, having worked with the brand for nearly a decade and previously serving as the studio general manager of Theatre Row Studios, assisting in the renovation of the off-Broadway theater complex.

The American Modern Opera Company (AMOC) and The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine will partner for the performance of El Niño: Nativity Reconsidered that will be performed at the church on Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The show will celebrate Latin American poets and female voices, featuring company member soprano Julia Bullock, bassist Doug Balliett, flutist Emi Ferguson, and more. Tickets are being sold online on a choose-what-you-pay basis, with $5-$45 recommended.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: InterContinental Washington, D.C. - The Wharf has appointed Tiffany Rioux as its director of sales and marketing. Rioux brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience to the role, where she will oversee the luxury waterfront hotel’s overall sales, marketing, and public relations efforts.
