GLOBAL: The Miss Universe Organization has announced that The Roku Channel will be the exclusive English-language broadcast partner for the 71st Miss Universe Competition. The three-hour program will be livestreamed from New Orleans, La. on Jan. 14, 2023, and will end with the current Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu, crowning her successor. The pageant will air in more than 165 countries and will be televised in Spanish on Telemundo.
MONTREAL: Annual international event conference C2 Montréal has announced that Anick Beaulieu—the current vice president, growth and partnerships—will assume the role of president and CEO as of Jan. 1, 2023. The current president and CEO, Jacques-André Dupont, will become the executive chairman of the board. Once effective, Beaulieu and Dupont will also both become shareholders of the company, working together to accelerate C2’s development. Next year, the conference is set to be held March 31-April 2.
TORONTO: W Toronto has launched its first-ever festive programming to mark the 2022 holiday season. Guests are invited to High Beau-Tea—taking place at the luxury lifestyle hotel on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout winter—with seatings at noon and 2 p.m. at the sixth-floor Living Room. Skylight Holiday Feasts will also be on offer throughout the month of December where, for $90-$150 per person, guests can dine on seasonal prix fixe menus at W’s on-site Mediterranean-inspired rooftop eatery. Attendees can expect highlights like hummus and babaganoush, pistachio-crusted turkey kebabs, saffron cranberry rice, and more.
Tim Hortons has launched a holiday campaign that includes a 60-second TV commercial and children’s book titled A Nest in the North. All proceeds from book sales will be donated to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), which is responsible for protecting refugees and resolving refugee-related issues around the world. The book was developed in partnership with creative agency GUT Toronto and can be purchased on Tim Hortons’ website. Meanwhile, the TV campaign, titled “KindNest,” features a heartwarming story about leaving home under difficult circumstances and starting a new life in a foreign land.
VANCOUVER: The CP Holiday Train is stopping throughout Metro Vancouver for its 24th year on Dec. 17 and 18. The larger-than-life, brightly decorated Holiday Train is set to make stops in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Port Moody, and Port Coquitlam with 168 free live shows along the way. Free concerts will feature performances from the likes of McKenzie Porter, Virginia to Vegas, and more, with the mission of raising money, food, and awareness for local food banks.
