US: New Boutique Hotel Announces Opening in Dallas, Fort Lauderdale Welcomes PIXAR PUTT, Greenville Convention Center's New Partnership, and More

DALLAS: Harwood International—the global, Dallas-based real estate firm—recently announced the company’s flagship boutique hotel property, Hôtel Swexan, is set to open in the summer of 2023. The property aims to serve as the crown jewel of the walkable 19-city block Harwood District. The 22-story, 134-key hotel will blend warm Texas charm with international European flair—symbolic of its moniker “Swiss meets Texan.” And on-site will be a 20th-floor, 75-foot rooftop infinity pool, exclusive meeting and event spaces, contemporary art, and European-inspired furnishings.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA.: Following stops in New York City, Houston, San Antonio, Chicago, and Denver, PIXAR PUTT—the ultimate pop-up, open-air mini-golf experience—will launch at The LOOP (Las Olas Oceanside Park) on Jan. 25. PIXAR PUTT is made up of 18 fun, interactive, Instagramable holes inspired by the stories, characters, and icons from some of Disney and Pixar's most beloved films, including Toy Story, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Coco, A Bug's Life, Wall-E, and Inside Out.

GREENVILLE, S.C.: In an effort to generate new business at the Greenville Convention Center and reinvigorate Greenville as a meetings destination, the City of Greenville revealed that it has entered into a new partnership with Oak View Group, the global venue development, advisory, and investment company for both the hospitality and live entertainment industries. OVG360—the third-party, venue management, venue services, and hospitality division of OVG—is now overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations for the facility. OVG360 will also work closely with the Greenville CVB to generate new business opportunities for the convention center.

MIAMI: As part of the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA)’s mission to connect diverse audiences and cultures by providing a welcoming center at the heart of the community, the museum is offering a robust series of educational and public programming to celebrate Haitian Independence throughout the month of January. This includes the fourth annual Soup Joumou celebration on Jan. 1 and Conversations at MOCA: NorthStar—The Meaning of Haiti in Diaspora on Jan. 18.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Destination DC, the official destination marketing organization for Washington, D.C., has announced new appointments to its leadership team. Danielle Davis has been promoted to vice president of communications. Calvin Morgan is now director of information technology and business intelligence. Torri Christian is now director of marketing. Andrew O’Connor is now director of content marketing. And Terri Carter is now director of people and culture.
