GLOBAL: Event Leaders Exchange (ELX) and full-service event production agency Freeman have announced a new partnership that will provide ELX members with direct access to Freeman’s data, strategists, and innovations that are shaping the way people experience and interact with brands. ELX comprises more than 60 global heads of events from companies including Allianz, Cisco, Google, Siemens, T-Mobile, and Walmart. Freeman will join ELX at its first-ever Annual Congress and will host a discussion group dubbed "Aligning Business Events with Your Company’s Sustainability Goals.”
Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas has appointed Gabriela Lam as vice president of leisure sales and Ginny Long as director of national accounts. Most recently, Lam served as complex leisure senior sales manager of Conrad Punta de Mita and Hilton Los Cabos. Long also served most recently at those properties as senior complex sales manager.
HALIFAX: Genaya Cameron, the senior director of event operations at the Halifax Convention Centre, is joining the international board of directors of MPI. Cameron is the first Atlantic Canadian to sit on the board in more than 15 years. Her one-year term began this month. She played a key role in the transition to the new Halifax Convention Centre in 2017, building and developing its team and its operational and service standards.
OTTAWA: The Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival returns this year Feb. 3-4. The two-night winter event will consist of four concerts each night at Arts Court on Daly Avenue. Eventgoers can expect live shows by Sarah Neufeld, Kenny Barron, Thus Owls, and more. F&B vendors will also be on-site.
WINNIPEG: Travel Manitoba and Tourism Winnipeg are set to host the 2023 Winter Cities Shake-Up Feb. 15-17, the first time the event will be held in Winnipeg. The event is an opportunity to share ideas and inspiration from urban planners and designers, entrepreneurs and businesspeople, artists, cultural leaders, and community organizers on how to thrive in winter cities. The three-day event will feature presentations from internationally renowned experts in winter city living and design, winter business, and winter tourism.
