GLOBAL: Mexico's Velas Resorts has announced Ruben Perez has been named regional sales director, Southwest for meetings and incentives, effective immediately. Based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Perez most recently served as senior director of sales and services for Discover Denton in Texas. Velas Resorts consists of Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta; the Grand Velas Resorts in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya, and Riviera Nayarit; and Mar del Cabo, a boutique hotel in Los Cabos. The adults-only Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos is a new, all-inclusive resort opening in late 2023.
GUERNEVILLE, CALIF.: A Sonoma County property has reopened after devastating flooding in 2019. Dawn Ranch reopened this past Memorial Day weekend as Northern California’s newest well-being destination. It features 81 total keys with newly renovated cottages and cabins, a Japanese-inspired shade garden, a spa, and The Orchard, home to 120-year-old fruiting trees that were once the center of Dawn Ranch’s campsites and are now the center of a new glamping concept.
LAS VEGAS: Circa Resort & Casino has transformed into a Vegas Golden Knights fan hub during the NHL team's championship games. Not only will the adults-only hot spot be the site of the "official game three watch party" on June 8, but it will host “knightly” happenings for each game of the series, including full audio at several venues across the property, drink specials, giveaways, gaming promotions, and more.
Fleur at Mandalay Bay will close permanently on June 30. The venue will transition into a new food and beverage concept with an anticipated opening this winter. Additional details on the new addition to Mandalay Bay’s culinary portfolio will be shared in the coming months.
SALT LAKE CITY: Antonette Eckert recently joined Visit Salt Lake (VSL) as associate vice president of tourism development. She will be responsible for managing VSL’s growing portfolio of destination assets and associated opportunities in the travel trade space, working with local suppliers and domestic and international distributors to expand the trade segment for Salt Lake globally. Most recently, Eckert was the chief industry development officer at Travel Nevada.
