What I do: I have the privilege of leading the group sales team at Visit Huntington Beach, allowing me to work alongside a group of incredibly talented individuals as we drive meeting and event sales for our destination hotels and resorts. Our priority is creating awareness of the destination through advocacy, education, and relationship-building, resulting in new opportunities for our partners.
How I got here: My career in hospitality started just after college, when a family friend invited me to his office at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge. I enjoyed eight amazing years with Marriott. When my path eventually led me to Huntington Beach, was one of these friends who helped connect me with the CVB for an open sales position and, well, the rest is history…
Greatest career accomplishment: My greatest career accomplishment is being a part of the opening team for the Residence Inn Phoenix Desert View in Phoenix, Arizona. It was my first job out of college, and it was an incredible learning experience that has proven to be an invaluable career foundation. A close second is earning my current position of director of sales for Visit Huntington Beach.
Specific improvement I’ve made: We’ve really focused on how we engage our partners, specifically our hotel colleagues and our customers, with emphasis on the value and support we can offer them throughout the sales process. Elevating the site visit is a primary part of these efforts. This is arguably the most critical aspect of the sales process and we’re constantly finding ways to make these experiences more engaging, more memorable, and more productive.
