*Connect with Young on Twitter. How I got here: I worked in Chicago for a major nonprofit for 18 years. In 2013, we started our business. I left my job in May 2014 and became a consultant. In 2015, the association hired AMS as its event management company. Our business began to grow, and we now support more than five major organizations with various components of logistics services. Greatest career accomplishments: One of my greatest achievements was obtaining my CMP. It took me two attempts, but I was determined, and I did it! My other accomplishment was starting and maintaining my own business for over five years. Impressive stats: I successfully negotiated terms to include association concessions, rebates and commissions totaling more than $700,000. Specific improvement I’ve made: I restructured the vendor sales strategy and increased revenue by $20,000. What I do outside of work: In my spare time, I read inspiring books. I recently read “Becoming” by Michelle Obama and “The Difference Maker” by John C. Maxwell. I sit on the customer advisory board for Visit Milwaukee. I spend time with my family, and I am working to restructure Kids on Track Travel Club, a travel club for kids ages 10 to 16 years old.
