Lisa Ware, 37, works in Chicago as director of sales at The Entertaining Company. As a 2018 40 Under 40 honoree, Ware discusses her passion for the events industry.
Connect with Ware on Instagram.How I got here: In 2010, I left my career as a kindergarten teacher and my very small catering company to venture into the big world of events in Indianapolis. I landed a job as an event supervisor with a catering company and was quickly promoted to sales. My work during the 2012 Super Bowl in Indy got me noticed by an elite catering company, where I spent the next two years. That led me to Chicago, where I fell in love with the fast-paced and amazing event world of the Windy City. I spent four years as a catering sales consultant building my business and personal brand, which ultimately led me to my current position as director of sales at Entertaining Company.
Greatest career accomplishment: The highlight is being named chapter president of the International Live Events Association Chicago Chapter in my second year in the city, as well as taking home several ILEA Chicago NICE Awards.
What I do outside of work: My husband and I love to go to the Green City Market every Saturday morning in Lincoln Park. I also love to cook and entertain at home. I love to travel—whether it is a small weekend getaway to somewhere in the U.S. or a big trip to one of the top places on our travel list.
